Who we are

Cornbread & Roses (CBR) is a 2SLGBTQIA+ led and focused nonprofit dedicated to creating an inclusive and affirming space for individuals from marginalized communities in rural Western North Carolina.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster community, celebrate diversity, and provide holistic therapeutic support to empower personal growth, resilience, and healing. We exist to fill vital gaps in services and to create community in the tradition of our Appalachian heritage, with love, joy, pride, solidarity, and good food.

CBR believes there should be “Bread for all, and roses, too!”

Give OUT Day

June 5, 2025

Give OUT Day is the only national LGBTQ+ giving event.

Since 2013, Give OUT Day has helped hundreds of LGBTQ nonprofits raise money to support their life-saving work.

This year, Give OUT Day is June 5.

Early Giving begins on Thursday, May 22, and closes on June 30.

Every cent earned will go toward supporting our therapists in providing affirming and accessible mental health services, buying supplies and food for community events or clinical groups, building a queer lending library, and continuing to operate a low-barrier food pantry for the rural LBGTQ+ population of Western North Carolina.

Together we can take a stand. Donate today to help us save lives.

Don’t miss any of the excitement.
